With the advent of Yelp and other similar review sites on the web, many consumers have joined the social media craze and feel comfortable posting reviews about their experiences with various retailers such as restaurants, car washes, dry cleaners, etc. But what about attorneys? Many people feel uncomfortable posting reviews about their dealings with lawyers due to the fact in most cases these experiences involve a matter of a personal nature that may be embarrassing if the general public were to read about it on the internet.
Ordinarily, the consumer would create a public profile that may contain personal information that would allow a reader to identify the reviewer and be able to know about that person's personal life that could be somewhat uncomfortable, such as a recent DUI or criminal charge or a shoplifting incident where the reviewer had to hire a lawyer.
Recently, a criminal defense attorney realized that the best way to avoid this is to allow the reviewer to post their experiences, good or bad, in an anonymous way that would be user friendly and easy, without the need to create a "public profile" or disclose their facebook account information. Matthew Ruff Client Reviews allows both current and former clients to access the page, post reviews and also read about other client's sentiments. In the coming months, the creator will assess the ease of use and consider expanding the concept for other areas of the law, such as bankruptcy and employment matters.

Can Attorneys Be Rated The Same Way As Any Other Business?
For those of us who have had to search for a criminal lawyer for a loved one in trouble, we all know the process can be painstaking and filled with stress and anxiety. How do we choose a competent attorney? How do I know the lawyer is any good? With many businesses the simple way to determine the quality of service is ask around, speak to neighbors or friends. But, is is embarrassing to have to ask a friend or neighbor who they would go to if a family member is arrested for a crime. There are good referral sites out there but they all seem to be selling ads to the same attorneys that are listed on their sites. There needs to be a better way, a more reliable service to get information about a lawyer. What are your thoughts?

Phone Company Incompetence
It used to be that utility companies such as phone and electric had the best customer service. No longer, a recent phone problem resulted in a call for service, the response, after hours on the phone, "we can be there in a couple of weeks". It is no surprise that people are choosing alternatives to AT&T such as cable and skype and internet phone. These dinosaurs need to get into this century and realize that there are choices for phone service otherwise they will soon be extinct as well.

customer service scores
Don't you just love when you call someplace or go in person and they try their very best to hurry you along so they can get to the next client but they spend most of the time at the end telling you a survey is sure to come and then they direct you on how that survey will work and what they want you to give them --example--when you get this survey make sure you give me all 5's-make sure you tell them yes--whatever it is--they tell you what to say. So out of guilt (because it could be you they will grade someday) and God forbid you give the truth and cost them their job, the kids would starve, the house would be lost, they would live on the street in Nebraska in the snow-you do it!
If you are going to "grade" customer service---why are you announcing it? To them, to us--etc. If you are grading them on their service-let it be real. \
First off, customer service means that --customer SERVICE. If you are going to be in this field then do the right thing without being "sen sored" like Nike says--JUST DO IT!! Otherwise you shouldn't be in it.
I am not saying that if someone is horrible you can't hang up on them orrrr--put them on hold ----for eternity! Get a Sup--you are NOT going to win an argument with a customer so why put yourself there. You have managers for that---make them earn their pay! PS--how did i do?!!! just kidding!

pet peeves on customer service
How to start-hmmm-I have been wanting to write a book on customer service for a very long time but never new how to start. So my very good friend told me to start a blog and see how it goes. Then my husband-then anyone who listens to me bitch and moan all week and are tired of it and want me to keep busy so here goes!
My rants are about customer service. In every retail experience. Bad, Good, and the ugly and believe me, and I know you do-way too mucyh ugly and bad out there! What happened to customer service???? I mean I am talking lets do a 180 on it!
I won't even do the "when I grew up" thing but every year it seems to be worse and worse and the problem is even when you complain it doesn't change-or you get that little extra something in your food or that fee not removed or telemarketed or blacklisted!
The newest excuse (maybe its the 2010 motto) is --"it's not my fault". Gotta love that one. We went to one of our favorite restaurants after xmas to get a pizza and salad. After 40min. we finally got our pizza. OK--maybe I should have been more clear but don't salads usually come first??? I asked the waitress who seems to care less where is our salad--"it's not my fault" I put it in. K---WHERE IS IT???? We asked to speak to the manager and this hot headed little man comes to the table-puts his palms on the pizza board and starts to take the pizza away! We tell him we are eating it and he continues to try and take the pizza-hands still on it. My husband--who is 3 times his size tells him to take his hands off our pizza--he snarled still didn't let go and my husband made clicking noise (kinda like calling a horse) and told the man to go away! He still didn't move his hands. He really had to think about his ego or his career. I don't get it!
For New Years Eve, we went to another favorie place-Chinese of course-Our waitress was about as personable as a pea--oh well, poor thing she isn't cute and she's working new years eve. Everyone who sat after us was eating of course this is typical. Asked the waitress if she could check on our food her response--guess!--It's not my fault, its new years eve! I put it in! Oh yah, that calms ya right down! If she had just said Let me check all would have been right because no more than she made her excuse and our food was there. Good thing too cuz we really didn't trust her to bring our food after that. Never saw her again! Another server put the check on the table and said "she wanted me to give you this."
I am not talking just restaurants. Ever try calling places???? Enter your account number or phone number or whatever number, press 2, press 5, press 3 so on so on so on--finally a human---click--or please re enter your account number----------by the time you are finished with pressing you are already exhausted or pissed so the person you finally get who has already had 15 of you before they get to you is pissed cuz everyone else just went through the same thing.
Ok--here is my pet pet peeve-------SALES! I am a sales person so I know what I am talking about. It isn't enough that our economy is awful-but hey---you don't have 5 credit cards with us--whats wrong with you! This opens an entire can of worms for me.
When I am shopping to relax what I don't want to hear on the loud speaker in every single department is who got an ICU and who's next??? Are you kidding me? I don't know what an ICU means in their lingo but I am pretty sure it is credit card and who's next? do you mean us as victims are your superstar who is being forced to cram this credit card down innocent peoples throats??? It really drives me crazy.
Lets go to the nail shop--oh yah. Walk in on the phone (my bad) tell them what you want--specifically-only a pedicure and try and continue with your conversation so you can relax when they start --oh no, do you want pedicure? do you wan fot massage? How bout tips? How bout shutting up and listening!!!!!!!! Drives me crazy!
Banking???? Gotta be the 2nd worst--cuz I still say restaurants have the worst customer service but it is a really close call here. Have you ever noticed you are almost always afraid to go into the bank? Y is that??? Well for me it was because I worked there-but for a consumer--I can feel the tension the minute they walk in. I don't blame them. I have worked at a few top banks and in the beginning, it was great fun because I used to be a social butterfly and really thought I could make a difference in peoples lives and have fun at the same time! Try doing that in a corporate environment! It was fun for many years however, as with all businesses they get greedy and more pushy and it shows to the customer. Oh they tell you if you do it right they won't feel "pushed" but who are they? They are me! I feel pushed--if I feel it--so are you. Not only are you pushed the products and I do mean pushed-but try and cash a check? It's kinda like dating--are they gonna cash it? Hold it? reject it? fight with me-depends on the moods and knowledge of the people in the bank. These days, the leaders aren't moved up because of good management but good salesmen ship. I understand compensating-but these folks got there by scamming and playing politics-eewwee!
At one bank I worked at-I was told and I kid you not-"if you used the transition statement, you wouldn't have to use your personality and at the end of the day you wouldn't be tired" Really??? didn't you hire me for that??? I warned my husband that if I couldn't use my personality at work then he would have to deal with a whole bunch of me at home. I quit shortly after that!
I could and will go on and on when I figure out just how to utilize this blog!
